S. H. Allgood, present surveyor of Clark County, is a native Kentuckian, born
in the year 1825. He was united in marriage in 1848 to Miss Ascenith Bratcher,
of Breckinridge County, Ky., and daughter of Fielding and Elizabeth (Meredith)
Bratcher. Mrs. Allgood was born in the year 1832, and to here union with our
subject were born eight children—two sons and two daughters now living. They
are named as follows: Manly H., Jr., Celia. A., Charles L. and Parrylee. She
is a good woman and a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Allgood moved to
Clark County, MO., in the year 1855, and in 1875 located on his present farm,
which consist of 100 acres, lying on the Wyaconda River, all well cultivated
and improved. In 1884 he was elected to his present office, which he has
filled in an able and efficient manner. He Joined the Confederate Army during
the war, and was in service about three months. His sympathies were with the
South to the end, and he is an uncompromising Democrat. He is the son of Manly
H. and Priscilla (Powers) Allgood, both natives of Virginia.

S. H. is not listed in cemetery inscription, but Ascenith S. Allgood d. June
28, 1889 aged 58 years, 7 mo. 24 days. In addition, George F. Allgood son of
S. H. and A. S. d. Aug 1872, age 20 years, 3 month, and 22 days. Also listed
is a Manley H. Allgood June 12, 1850 – May 15, 1900, his wife Mary E. Allgood
d. May 18, 1885 aged 27 years, 10 days. All are listed in Wilson Family
Cemetery.
